February 2004

There were 13 QRP'ers and guests at the Redings Mill Inn for our February gathering. The main topic of discussion was the upcoming OzarkCon QRP convention to be held in April. Joe, WØMQY demonstrated the prototype OzarkCon keyer kit that will be sent to the pre-registered attendees of OzarkCon. The keyer will be used for a fun audio CW contest at the OzarkCon Friday night open house.

The pictures below are "clickable" to view a larger image file.

On the left foreground is Joe, WØMQY with Jim Newton behind him. On the right foreground is Bart, N5WL with Tony, KØLNY behind him. This was Tony's first 4SQRP meeting. Welcome aboard Tony!

Today was David Kowal's (on the left) first visit to a 4SQRP meeting. Welcome David and good luck on your upcoming license exam! On the right are Carol W5CSJ and Don, AE5K from Yellville, Arkansas. All four of the four states were represented today!

Another view of the 4SQRP meeting room. That's Gene, NØMQ in the right foreground. Gene is the person who has been kitting and mailing all the KD1JV Tenna Dipper kits! Thanks for all your hard work Gene!

Here is the first prototype of the OzarkCon keyer kit, built by Joe, WØMQY.

A closeup of the keyer board. You can tell that Joe does nice work.

Another view of the keyer board. It looks pretty easy to build.

Next month we will be back to Barney's in Seneca, but note that the date has been shifted to the fourth Saturday so we can attend the Green Country hamfest. See you there!

How's this for a paddle! It actually works pretty good. Not bad for a couple of paper clips and some wood screws.
