Gluing Square Manhattan Pads, WAØITP

Use a small dot of epoxy or contact cement to allow time for squarely placing the pads on the EM template, or to align the sides of the pads to the sides of the board. How big a dot? About 1/16" or so is about right, it doesn't require much for a secure bond.. Transfer the glue to the board with a toothpick. Place the pad, align it, and press gently, and allow time for the glue to cure before soldering to the pads.

Super or Instant glues work very well for gluing pads also. However they require placing the pad perfectly the first time, since they set up so quickly. But they are the glue of choice for many builders. There are many formulations, including a"rubberized" one that works well.

Safety Note: If you use these cyanoacrylate based glues, use a gel formulation, wear eye glasses, and use adequate ventilation. (i.e. DON’T breathe the fumes when tinning). These glues have irritating chemicals. Also don't allow contact with your skin or clothing.   Click here for more information

On EM Template© projects I prefer to use epoxy, prepare the board in the evening, let the glue cure over night, and begin soldering components the next day.
