Since we sure had such rotten weather for the 4SQRP Spring Fling in April, we tried again in May. This month we went back to the Twin Bridges State Park in the northeast corner of Oklahoma for AmQRP's "Look Around In The Field" contest. The weather was much improved over April!

The idea of the LAITF contest is to operate from the out-of-doors and to look for wildlife on the day of the operation. Part of the contest exchange is to send and receive the names of creatures spotted. Dogs, cats, bugs and even humans are eligible to be included in the list along with the wild animals and birds spotted.

Tom N2UHC working CW with one of his Small Wonder rigs. Tom N2UHC's has two Small Wonder CW transceivers and a homebrew keyer. That's a solar panel in the background to keep the battery topped off.
Tommy WD5AGO brought his new Ozark 17 transceiver in a custom made case. This is a superhet 17 meter CW rig featuring a separate VXO controlled transmitter. Here is the inside view of the Ozark 17. It is built using mostly surface mount parts.
