Fall has arrived in the four states. After a couple of weeks of glorious warm Indian summer weather, meeting day arrived with overcast skies and cool temperatures. A drizzle of rain squelched our plans to work the MQFD (Monthly QRP Field Day) from the city park. Despite the not-so-nice weather, 20 QRP'ers gathered at Barney's in Seneca for lunch and to share the latest QRP news.

Normally we hold our luncheon get-togethers on the third Saturday each month, but we shifted October's meeting to the fourth Saturday to accommodate trips to PacifiCon QRP Convention and the Grandview (Kansas City) hamfest.

Most of the pictures that follow are "clickable" to view a larger image file.

Joe WØMQY, Gene NØMQ and Wanda (Joe's XYL). Joe and Gene just returned from PacifiCon and reported on all the happenings out there.

Joe's PacifiCon audio keyer and a beautiful Kent paddle. Joe said that the QSO party using these keyers was fun despite all the QRM!

Tom N2UHC, Jay KØETC, Bill WBØLXZ and Jerry NØJRN. Jerry lives at Springfield and this was his first trip to a 4SQRP meeting.

Jim Newton and Don K5AAR relaxing with a cup of coffee.

Dan, NØDT getting ready for one of Barney's famous pork tenderloin sandwiches. Dan is from Springfield and is one of the leading QRP-L 40 meter fox hunters.

Cecil NØEHP in the foreground with JC K5DMI behind him. Cecil brought several large pieces of plastic sheet to share with the builders in the group. Thanks Cecil!

Rex KC5UVN, Ira KD5AUX and Pete Banfield having lunch.

4SQRP takes over Barney's back room for our luncheons. That's Nancy NØFNZ (back to the camera) visiting with Carol W5CSJ and Don AE5K.

The KD1JV Tenna Dipper built by Gene, NØMQ. Gene added a jack on the front to connect a frequency counter.

Here is what the NorCal BLT tuner looks like in the new all metal case.

Another shot of the 4SQRP crew. That's Foy KCØOCK on the left.

Everybody wanted to see Jerry NØJRN's MultiPig transceiver. This is a all-band CW rig designed by W8DIZ.

The front panel of NØJRN's MultiPig transceiver has a digital frequency display read-out, variable bandwidth, four memory channels and dual VFO's.

The inside of the MultiPig reveals Jerry's beautiful construction job. There are 72 toroids in this project! The top cover and sides are made of transparent plastic. Very nice!

Don K5AAR's mobile CW setup. Don is a county hunter (using QRP) and is heading out to "run" several counties on the County Hunter CW net on his way back home to Oklahoma. Don currently needs only 28 more counties to have "worked them all". Quite an outstanding accomplishment!

Don's scratch built bandswitched 20 / 40 meter CW QRP mobile transceiver. The switch visible on the dashboard selects between 20 or 40 meter whips mounted on the bed of the pickup truck. Sure a nice mobile setup!

Next month, we will be back to our normal third Saturday "Barney's Kitchen" meeting schedule. Watch the 4SQRP home page for updated information.
