Tenna Dipper Kit

Tenna Dipper Kit

January 7, 2009 Update: The Tenna Dipper is SOLD OUT and the kit has been retired.

Designed by Steve "Melt Solder" Weber, KD1JV, the "Tenna Dipper" is a low power antenna analyzer and ATU tuning aid. With this handy accessory, you can determine the 50 Ohm resonance frequency of antennas or you can adjust your antenna tuner for a 50 Ohm match without generating QRM. Powered by a 9 volt battery, the "Tenna Dipper" can be built into an Altoids tin and used either in the shack or in the field.

Frequency coverage is 2.5 to over 30 MHz in two ranges with four presetable bands. If the low range is selected, the four bands can be preset to cover 80, 40, 30 and 20 meters. If the high range is selected, the four bands can be configured to cover 40, either 30 or 20, 18 and 15 meters and the 12 and 10 meter bands. Individual trimmer pots are used as fine tuning adjustments for each of the four bands.

The circuit uses a wide range voltage controlled oscillator, a resistive bridge and a LED reflected power indicator. The oscillator frequency is announced in Morse code using an Arizona ScQRPions Stinger frequency counter chip and a small piezo speaker.

Steve has generously permitted the 4SQRP Group to produce this kit. Thanks Steve! Also thanks to Dan Tayloe, N7VE, for making the Arizona ScQRPions Stinger frequency counter chip available to 4SQRP.

What you get: You will receive the PC board, all board mounted parts and the instruction / operation manual. The builder will need to provide the enclosure, antenna connector of your choice and the battery.
